The Golden Crown Literary Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and is entirely dependent on financial donations to continue our work.
Sapphic and women-loving-women literature is globally underrepresented in bookshops, media, and awards shows.
The GCLS was founded in 2004 to support and increase the visibility of our genre. While enormous steps forward have been made, there is still much work to do.
INSPIRING CHANGE
Our number one priority is to increase the visibility of sapphic and women-loving-women literature, and we know the best way to do that is to remove any barriers to entry and create a welcoming and accessible community for all. In light of this, we moved away from a membership dues structure in 2022.
As we move into our 2024 Conference and Awards cycle, we continue to believe that our community and our literature deserve a bigger audience. We will continue to rise to the challenge of finding those opportunities for our community. We are resolved in our belief that we can continue to create more opportunities to recognise and widen our community.
We believe we can continue to provide all of the services we have in the past, and more besides, but we need your help. While we are no longer asking for membership dues, we still need your support. We accept one-off, annual, and even monthly donations. You can adjust your donation to suit your current circumstances so you are never tied in.
We appreciate every single donation, no matter the size. We hope that you will continue to support the GCLS and be a part of our journey to reach even more readers in the coming years, making our genre truly internationally accessible.
